  1. Yes.

There is bus service throught Latin America, it's one of the most used forms of public transport. That being said, it's often late and prone to breakdowns. There isn't a single bus to get you from where you are to where you want to go. You will need to buy tickets a couple of times along the way as you cross a couple of borders. I wouldn't do it only because it will take too long, but people do it. Sorry I have no idea how much it would cost.

  2. Yes, it can be done...but not just on one bus straight thru.  You will have to take a bus from  El Salvador to Guatemala, then change to another.  1st site below is a bus line that runs from El Salvador to Guatemala.  2nd site is a line that runs from Guatemala to Mexico D.F.  ( Mexico City).  You usually have to be very creative putting together a trip like this...fitting schedules together.  Sometimes you just have to take the first leg, then talk to them in the bus station about schedules and buses for the 2nd leg.  Sometimes schedules change from what is on line.  It should cost you less than  $150 usd.   Once you get to a major bus station in Guatemala, there will probably be several bus lines that run to Mexico City.
