I live in the US and I am entering the IB program next year. I would like to study abroad in college, possibly in the UK. Is IB common in the UK and how is it compared to the A-levels?

  1. I live in England and have never heard of it.

  2. I live in the uk and have never heard of IB what is it.

  3. Well, IB is run by those chaps across the pond, so yea it's there.... and I think it's something like about 30 points (out of 45) gets you about 3 A-grades, where a perfect (45 points) would get you 6 A-grades at A level. All gibberish, just think of it this way: a higher college/university is going to ask you for 36-37 points total on your exams, and the "ivies of the east end" are going to be looking for about 38-45 points total. The most important part to remember when applying for college in the UK is that "prediction" scores matter most.. not that you shouldn't give a **** about what you're actually going to score because colleges can revoke their acceptance later .. but if your teachers know you're a good worker and have an air of current and future erudition, it bodes well for a school's review of your application when it require IB exam prediction scores. Good luck, IB is an interesting experience.
