Are there many bears in eastern states?

  1. yeah.and if your real quiet you can see them using a brush to get the excess toilet paper off each others butts . lol


  2. About 3000 per state.  Unless you live in Delaware (no bears).  There aren't many bears the the Midwest either.  North Carolina has the most with about 9000.  I've never heard of a bear attack east of the Mississippi River.  It must be very rare.

  3. Not sure what you mean by eastern (east of Mississippi?), but there are 15,000 - 19,000 black bears in Michigan.

The black bear populations in all eastern USA states have increased, except Florida.  This was brought on by years of protection and the decline in the fur trade.  Some states now have serious black bear problems due to the increased numbers and of course more people.  New Jersey has once again allowed the hunting and harvest of a few black bear in an attempt to reduce the numbers and hopefully keep bears out of peoples yards.
