Are there many cities between puerto vallarta y guadalajara mexico?

i am flying into puerto vallarta and i am going to hike the 120 miles into guadalajara over a period of a little under a week. i am wondering what the geography is like in between the two cities and if there are villages and smaller cities in between them that i could stop and get food and water at. any help at all with this would be a life saver. thanks.

Baby baby baby!!! Of course you can find water, food and place to stay, actually Mexico is a beautiful place and even in the small towns we have hotels or some place where you can stay. Actually near to there is maeva, a beautifully aquatic park where you can enjoy the lovely Mexican weather.

I've been trying to do the same thing and believe it or not, there's a trail from people who does it. You can see it better in Google Earth. Last time I did a search I found this group of people.
