Are there many kinds of Mushrooms

Question

Kikurage mushrooms are they added to Stir fry.They are long' about the size of a finger and brown .but look likenoodless.am trying to find out what this thing is in my bowl lol

Umm there are many kinds of mushrooms. The mushrooms in your bowl are probably Kikurage like you said...

there are so many different mushrooms and fungi families that grow in the world that to date, 130,000 or more have never been classified.  i go to a forest each fall that is not interfered with by people. i have photographed at least 1/4 of the mushrooms that i have found there that are not pictured anywhere in mycology books. neither are they described. i'd guess that most of them would poison you.

if you eat a mushroom that looks like a button mushroom, but you do not really know it is, it can poison you. some look very much like innocent buttons, but they are not.  

did you ever see what mushroom farms do in order to make mushrooms grow?  gee, is that interesting!  it takes using a VERY organic mix including manure. that is not true in nature--they don't have to have manure, but they grow from plant life that rots.    

i'm sure what you have in your bowl is not poisonous--why would it be sold if it were? but would you, if starving even, take a chance in a forest filled with unfamiliar mushrooms eat them?  i would not!
