Question:

Are there many poisonous creatures in Italy?

I'm wondering if when in Italy, during any time of the year, when in the city or the country side, would it be safe, like it is where I live in Canada, to lay around in the grass or climb a tree or swim in the ocean, without having to think about things like fire ants, poisonous snakes, spiders, sea creatures and other things. And if so, what are they?

Thanks a lot.

  1. You don't have to worry about this. You can easely visit Italy without such worries. There is no ocean, but you can swimm in the Mediterranean Sea, which is pleasant and is not subject to many worries at all and basically the same goes for the woods and the grass. Snakes are more scared of you then you are of them. Some noise and they will stay away from you.

  2. Like here many creatures exist there the same caution you would take here also smart to take there. It is much more tropical in the southern part and the mountains are probaly the same as your canadian atmosphere however in the southern areas ther is a bigger selection  and wider aray of creatures that exist. Just be careful of the Viper around rocks like the rattle snake but no rattle! God bless you and don't be afraid of anything, enjoy this beautiful planet for all the creatures is has made.

  3. There is only one type of snake in Italy which is poisonous, according to our information. It is a type of viper which is charactarized by a triangular head and a relatively short (50-70cm) body which is nevertheless wide in girth, as most vipers typically are.

  4. don't worry u ll be fine! this is europe we don't have so much wildlife or better (unfortunatly) we don't have it at all anymore!!

  5. I live in Milano and I have 4 salamanders.  But they stay in a box so if you visit Milano and Piazza Duomo they won't even scamper toward you.   We have some little viper snakes in the hills, but they only come out when they are hungry.  As Clo said we do have mosquitos.  These are very pesky.  Oh and there are a few creatures who hang out on the Spanish Steps in Rome... but they are harmless and just try to chat up blonde tourists.

  6. They are called "Moskitos" and they pretty much live all over the world !! LOL !! (It's not that you're going in a jungle in the Amazon)!

  7. YES! You should be aware of all he American Tourist! There stupidity might rub off on you.

  8. air!!!!!!!
