Are there metatarsals broken in my foot?

Question

I dropped a can of soup on my right foot, then dropped a heavy box on it the next day. The middle of the top of the foot is very tender to touch and it is swollen.

You shouldn't keep ice on your foot for more than about 20 minutes at a time. . . might explain some of the numbness.  

If you are very concerned go to your doctor or even  to an urgent care place (not ER, though) if you don't have a doctor.    They can do x-rays to check it out.

drop a big hammer on it and it will definitely break , then treat it accordingly ,
