    Recession in an industrial economy is an imbalance of economic factors in several critical industries.  Political observation of imbalances can result in government interaction to prevent or respond to a recession.

    Technology facilitates model scenarios which enable planners to test growth and or profit opportunities.

    Manipulation by management of a company , corporation, or industry can create or eliminate jobs.  Manipulation can also increase or decrease availability of commodities or products to influence price and profit targets.

    Tough times for Mainstream America may or may not be tough times for political and industry leaders.  Elite and wealthy people along with political leaders are insulated from high gasoline and energy prices.  Oil industry leaders and investors benefit from high gasoline prices.
