Question:

Are there nursing homes that are just for the MR/special needs population that are not ICF/MR? ?

I know that Nursing homes in general will take patients with an MR diagnosis, but I would like to get in contact with an actual facility that only takes that adult (seniors) population. If some one could give me a phone number or website that would help me out. Also I would like to know more about the transition process in PA to place individuals into a regular nursing home or one just for special needs. Thanks.

  1. you should be able to find a facility for a senior citizen with DD or MR. check with you state and county agencies. does this person have a caseworker? they should be able to help you find a place that will work well for your needs. i just googled PA MR services, and this is what i got:

    http://www.phila.gov/dbhmrs/

    http://www.dpw.state.pa.us/ServicesProgr...

  2. contact the state department of disability services--they might know
