Question:

Are there other exercises that help you run better besides running?

ive been running a lot and sprints but im wondering if theres something else i could do. is there something i can do? is jump roping one of them? stuff that helps you with your breathing or running.

  1. Biking is good for your quads which can help on hills as well as balance out the muscles on the back of the leg already strengthened by running. Strong quads are also known to assist some knee issues if you have them.

    If you swim, you're getting non-impact cardio which can help.

    Rowing (or a rowing machine) is often known as good all-around training.

    Anything you can do to strengthen your core (abdominals, etc.) should help your running. Kettlebells are something you might want to look into.

    I think biking (or a stationary bike) is the most complementary though. If / when you crosstrain, it's good if you can do something that allows your running muscles the chance to recover, and I don't know that jump roping would be far enough away to really count, though I suppose it could strengthen lower legs....


  2. anything that is cardio. try jump roping for about 15 minutes, swim some paps in a pool, go for a bike ride for and hour at a fast pace, speed walk, rowing is a good one, and try some rock climbing. just do things that increase your heart and lung rate.
