Are there other ways to help fight animal cruelty besides donating money?

I donate to several anti-cruelty organizations, but I still feel like I'm not doing enough. Are there places where I can volunteer and help rescue animals?

  1. yes. You can encourage other people to watch for any animal cruelty going on and tell them to look up the phone number for thier hometown

  2. Volenteer i Guess

  3. Volunteer at your local animal shelter

    donate money

    adopt anilmals

  4. You probably want to research whether your money is actually going to anti-cruelty or whether it's just going to an anti-(human) rights organization masquerading as an animal welfare group.

Donate your time to a local shelter. Generally those are the real front lines on anti-cruelty.

  5. Virtually every shelter needs willing volunteers. Check with your local Human Society and no-kill shelter in your area.

Also, some dogs and cats that require mulitiple surgeries in animal cruelty cases need foster homes and financial backing. You can check with your local veterinary teaching hospital for more information. Best of luck to you!

  6. Try -

  7. You mean like a place where they shelter stray animals that were given up by people or are just plain homeless? I can't think of any place like it that would exist. I mean an "animal shelter" or the "pound" would be an outrageous idea that could never work.

  8. First off,Kudos for helping animals :) Its very rewarding. I suggest you help at shelters, and try and find people who would like a new pet.

Also, here is a site i go on: www.hectori12.proboards49.com ! Its a great place to talk about animals and abolishing cruelty :)

    Good Luck!

  9. Volunteer at a local animal shelter, I did, it's hard work, but worth it when you can play with the dogs and cats.

  10. Volunteer at your local animal shelter

  11. Just to to a PetCo and ask them about animal shelters or organizations that need volunteer work. Or just go to any place that sells animals and ask them about the volunteer work.

  12. You can volunteer at your local animal shelter - just about every city has one (depending on size).  Also, any rescue group or organization could use some help as well.

Another way is do not support/buy products or from places that support animal cruelty.  For instance, don't buy your animal supplies or dog food at a store that sells puppies or cats since those animals likely come from a puppy mill and are treated horribly.  There are also some foods like Purina or Eukanuba that have been rumored to support puppy mills as well (however, don't know for sure if this is true.  However, you shouldn't buy that food anyway since it is full of fillers and cheap ingredients).

Adopt!  When you are looking for a dog or cat or any animal for that matter - adopt one from one of those shelters or organizations.   Giving a homeless pet a good home is the best way to help them out.  http://www.petfinder.com
