  1. About as many as places without telephone -


  2. Yes, the same places that are out of mobile range. There are some very remote locations up in the mountains for which this applies, but if you are travelling there you won't be worried about internet anyway.

  3. If you are talking about any inhabited regions, no there are none.

    And the French enjoy the fastest average connection speed in the world (or at least that was the case in 2006).

    But DSL may not have reached all of the remote low density inhabited places, so some people may still have to get dial up, but not for much longer.

  4. There are houses with no internet because they don't have a computer, or a telephone line (that's usually by choice). That's about all. Of course you can include the mountain refuges and shepherd refuges but I don't see anyone lugging a computer up there.
