Are there places that don't change their clocks an hour ahead/behind (or half an hour) ever? I mean do they have the same time 365 days a year?

  1. Yes, quite a large number of places.

  2. Yes, all countries on the equator have 12 hours daylight and 12 hours night time, no matter what time of the year it is. The equator always has 12 hours sunlight and 12 hours dark each day. The equator is the only great circle perpendicular to the earth’s axis of rotation. No matter what time of year, the great circle of the equator will bisect the great circle of the sun’s illumination (think of a half moon)- so it will always remain half in the circle of illumination and half out- 12 hours each.

Today, approximately 70 countries utilize Daylight Saving Time in at least a portion of the country. Japan, India, and China are the only major industrialized countries that do not observe some form of daylight saving.

Equatorial and tropical countries (lower latitudes) generally do not observe Daylight Saving Time. Since the daylight hours are similar during every season, there is no advantage to moving clocks forward during the summer. China has had a single time zone since May 1, 1980, observing summer Daylight Saving Time from 1986 through 1991; they do not observe DST now.

There is a world map showing which countries do, or do not, use daylight saving at the link.

  3. yes. most countries along the equator are like that. Singapore, for example. [my country!]

  4. No country in the tropics uses Daylight Savings Time.

In the USA, Arizona, Hawaii, and until 2006 parts of Indiana (near the city of Indianapolis) don't use DST.

It really isn't worth the trouble of changing the clocks in the tropics since there isn't that much difference in the length of the days over the year.
