  1. Horses are kept in cities, and all around them.  As traffic increases, so does drive time to get to them.  Start looking now, before you get too serious about a purchase, to be sure you can handle whatever the drive might entail.  Many large stables exist on small acreage in metro areas....the horses are stabled and ridden for exercise. the farther from the city proper, the more likely you will find a place including pasture turnout.

  2. you would want to look for boarding barns... i live near GR [in MI also..] and you can find really nice facilities around here for about $200-$300.

  3. I did a Super Pages search and this one seemed to be the closest.

Then, there were others within a 50 mile radius:

    I hope that this helps.

  4. There are boarding stables that are professional and care for your horse... They run anywhere from 250- about 800 per month. You can probably look in the phone book, go out to a stable, or ask people that have horse... Make sure you have everything lined up like farrier and vet and the place you are boarding him at. Horses are expensive there are hidden costs to ownership that you might not have though of!

Have you been taking lessons? You probably should for at least a year before you get a horse...Maybe start a lease before owning to get an idea of what its like. Its going to be more enjoyable if you know how to properly ride and have hands on handling from ground experience too...

  5. Hey
