Question:

Are there really gamblers who make a living in Las Vegas?

There are always stories about how the casinos won't let people in who they know have a "system" for beating the house. Is that really so, or just a myth? I've actually read about some systems that sound very promising, but they never seem to quite work when put into practice.

  1. there is one way to live off Las Vegas.. only1 true way to do it.

but it takes balls its not for everyone. here is the secret good luck if you do it.   liquidate Every thing you own. car house even give blood to make money etc..  you hitch hike to Las Vegas. anything to save or get as much money as you can.

then you choose black or red on roulette.  if you wanted to live of

it 4 life. you would have to  make the bet 6 times doubling your winnings. if you started with 10,000  it would give you 640,000.......... thats just starting with 10,00

I said 6 but if you could get more  you would only do it for 5 or 4 bets.  hey keep in mind you bet it all every time!

  2. Yes, The House. The House always wins. So does the state which taxes the gambling establishment.

Gambling is a tax on people too stupid to do the math. There are also laws which allow gambling houses to bar anyone they want too. If you win money consistently, they'll just ban you.

  3. yes, i did when i lived there.  black jack paid for housing, school, food, entertainment, everything.  but i gave it up as it is hard work and i was getting burned out.  i was making 300-1200 a night at different casinos.

  4. the casinos know that while most people lose, not everyone does. they don't mind the small time winners. they figure that in the long run the odds are against you anyway. just don't cheat, or try to cheat. yes, there are a few who can make a living gambling. they keep a low profile, go to lots of different casinos. to stay under the radar about the most you can make gambling in las vegas i would guess is around 100-150k per year. i can't say that i have been able to do it for myself but i have learned how to win (over the years i have stayed about even). have a good system based on odds and not on emotion or luck and stick to it and have a large enough bank roll. then, the thing that takes the longest to learn and is the hardest to learn is to know when to walk away. most people who gamble at some point are up but they are greedy so they stay and end up losing it all. then walk out broke even though they could have walked out 15 min. sooner with their winnings.

as far as a system for beating the house goes, i don't believer there is such a thing. most of the games i know of are based purely on chance. even single deck blackjack there is no advantage (to card counting) because they only deal about 3 or 4 hands out of the deck before reshuffling.

as i said, imo the only way to win is to quit while your ahead. but that is one of the hardest things to do.

  5. There are probably 200 to 300 people who make a living counting cards in Las Vegas.  They are allowed to get away with it because they do not attract attention.  There are at least that many who make a living playing poker here, waiting to fleece the tourists.

Either way, it rots a person's sense of self-respect.  Those people either start out as or become depressed, bitter, mean, and self-hating.

  6. I can guarantee you that there are professional gamblers making a living in Las Vegas playing blackjack, craps, poker, video poker (although pretty rare nowadays), and sports betting.

Blackjack players count cards, don't use systems. Poker players obviously win with talent. Video poker players exploit machines with positive house edges (and yes, they still exist). Professional sports bettors are talented handicappers who bet smart. People who make a living playing craps are either dice controllers, don't pass grinders, or yes, they actually use systems (but nothing I've ever seen on the internet, for free or otherwise).

I've seen just about every "system" out there, and the only ones I know that work in the long run are the ones I wrote myself, and I do not give them away or sell them cheaply.
