Are there really keyboards(musical ones) that can hook up to a computer?

Yeah, just about any prosumer keyboard has MIDI functionality. (Musical Instrument Digital Interface)

You're probably thinking of a "keyboard workstation."  They're multipurpose keyboards (interesting synthesizer sounds, but also mimics real instruments, you can record/edit songs on them, etc), and you can get the most out of them by connecting them to a computer and using certain (expensive) software.

Just about any new keyboard thesedays will connect to a computer.
