Are there really still people that get called socs and greasers?

Question

I read the outsiders and the only reason S. E. Hinton wrote the book is because her friends got called a greaser and beat up by a soc in real life.(but that was a long time ago) so are there really still people that call rich kids socs and poor kids greasers?

Not that I know of. When my mom was a kid, that rivalry was over by quite a few years but they did call the s****. kids socs. As of now, however, it's a no.

in some neiborhoods there still are some, but you got it wrong..the rich kids where socs yes...but greasers where and wherent all poor,the greasers where either lower or MIDDLE class...its just in the book the outsiders..she talks about the few greasers that happened to be poor also....greasers are usualy associated with rockabilly music,and psychobilly music but the psychobilly people add a little punk to there style

but i assumed it was 70's lingo

so i'm not so sure
