Question:

Are there replacement speakers for Sony DAV-FX900W 5-Disc DVD Dream System or similar home theatre system?

We bought a Sony Home theater system and after about 6 months, the wireless speakers no longer worked. They were unable to repair the problem. Now we have the DVD player and the speakers except the two wireless speakers for the rear...so when playing DVDs, we don't experience the surround sound effect. Before we go out and get another system...is it possible to buy wired speakers separately to replace the two that are missing? I'm now afraid of wireless speakers!

  1. What I've dug-up so far about your system...

Two Wireless speakers have to be connected using a wire. It was a surprise at first. Speaker wires that came the unit look thin.

Then you can get any wired speaker to replace those wireless ones that are not working. Just have to match the impeas and ohms So say those old speakers where 4 ohms just look those type of speakers. Check Radio Shack and online.

Watts per channel for these speakers are: 143 Watts. So if you can get 160 Watts speakers for the rear then you're okay.

Speaker driver (rear surround): 4 x 2.75-inch  woofers

    Surround Rear speaker: 143 W x 2  3 ohms

Done the work for you.. You can use these speakers from Circuit City as a replacement for your wireless not working ones:

Element 2-way Bookshelf Speakers 8 ohm max 160 Watts

    Model #: ELE   EBS1 $39 each

Even though they're 8 ohms you can downgrade them for your 3 ohm system as they will work.

Good luck.. Let me know how it went?
