Are there sharks in southern california?

I don't think there are in southern cali, but there are some off the coast

Yes... A lady got killed a cuppla years ago.. she was swimming off the pier near pismo beach with seals.. shark got her.. sad day.

Yes there are sharks in So Cal and they have been around for a long time.  There are general sightings of Great White Sharks up and down the coast although contact with them have been limited.  There were few juvenile great whites down in San O a few years ago but people surfed amongst them with no problems.  It appears that they don't really bother surfers or swimmers and the last fatal attack was I think on a diver in San Diego in the 20's or 30's.  There's a website called Pacific Shark sightings which documents shark sightings.  There was a fatal bite on a woman swimmer up the Central Coast a few years ago but I don't remember any attackes or bites on So Cal surfers.
