  1. yes i've seen at the news there were two of them last year

  2. I would say no. I'm from Barcelona and I study environmental science. There are sharks in the Mediterranean sea, but they are pretty small (3 meters long), sometimes a big white shark may have been seen in the Mediterranean area but it's not common at all. It's REALLY rare that any shark will get any close to the coast in Barcelona or anywhere in Spain. The Mediterranean coast is fairly shallow and sharks don't get close to that.

If you have to answer this for a school assignment just say no, if you're asking because you're coming here, don't worry at all. It's more likely that you find a win-lottery ticket in the street than you see a shark (unless you go to the aquarium)

  3. It seems to me that klar kent is teasing you. I live in Spain and I usually spend my holidays near Barcelona (and also I watch Spanish news regularly) and I have never heard such a thing. I think the Mediterranean Sea has sharks but not close to the coastal area. In fact, if you want to be afraid of something, be afraid of jellyfishes, they have attacked more than 700 people in one week and a couple of beaches near Barcelona have been closed. It's because of the the sunny and dry weather of summer and because during spring the rain wasn't enough.

    Hope it helps!!

  4. I live in Barcelona and I remember seeing a newspaper photograph, about 5 years ago, of a dead shark that drifted close and had been removed from the water near Barcelona. Never heard of anyone seeing a live one or a being attacked. Nasty jellyfish plagues recently, though.
