Are there some kind of fish bowl covers so your cat can't get to it?

My family is thinking about getting a cat and we already have a beta fish.

  1. you can go to the craft store and buy a sheet of plastic canvas (its used for needle point crafts). Then next time you clean his bowl (which I hope is often) put the opening of the bowl down on the canvas and draw a line around it. Then cut out the circle out of the plastic canvas and ta-da you have an inexpensive cover.

    To make sure the cat doesn't knock the bowl over, make sure you put the bowl up high on a shelf or put it in your room and close the door. Otherwise, you can get your betta a nice big tank and then the tank will be too heavy for the cat to knock over :)

  3. Your cat won't eat your fish, don't worry.  My mom has a cat and a betta, and they leave each other alone.  The cat will actually be more worried about its paw getting wet than anything else.  As long as your fishtank is deeper than a cat's paw, your betta will be fine.  

    Also, be careful if you do put a cover on the bowl, since bettas need to have access to air.  If they can't get to the surface of the water, they drown.
