I don't know about shouldn't...how about can't be measured?  How can we know our own or other peoples'  capacity to love, hate, be compassionate, griefstricken and all of those other things.

There's a lot that can't be measured because knowledge is incomplete, or non-existent and it's more fun to see alternate viewpoints rather than judging them.

What shouldn't be measured is how well a person conforms to some arbitrary set of standards.

measurements are arbitrary mental impositions on reality.  No thing can truly be measured.  All measurements are infinite or infinitesimal.
