Which types stars put out the most UV rays? The hotter/brighter stars or the cooler, dimmer ones?

  1. There are pulsars. The word ''pulsar'' comes from ''pulsating radio star''. A pulsar, or neutron star emits extremely regular pulses of radio waves. Some also give off short bursts of visible light, X-rays and gamma rays.

Pulsars are rapidly spinning and extremely dense stars composed almost entirely of neutrons and having a diameter of only about 20km. Yet, they can be as heavy as the sun. Pulsars emit radiation as intense beams from their magnetic poles. As the pulsar rotates, one of the magnetic poles faces Earth momentarily. It is during this instant that scientists can detect a pulse of electromagnetic radiation.
