  1. No hospital can deny you emergency care. BUT, you can be transferred to a participating or charity hospital once you are in stable condition. However, if you refuse to be transferred, you WILL be expected to pay for treatment.

  2. Hospitals cannot deny to treat you in the emergency room, which is why many border state hospitals have had to close their doors or are operating in the red. The can deny other services if you cannot demonstrate an ability to pay, either by insurance or cash.

If the provider is not in the network they will still treat you. It will depend upon your policy; some policies will allow you to go outside the network but your co-pays and/or deductible will be higher, other policies will not pay if you go outside the network.

  3. I don't think they can deny you emergency treatment, but if you don't have insurance they can transfer you to a county hospital as soon as you are stable enough to be moved.

  4. Only if you are legal and white can they deny you.

  5. Not if it is an emergency

  6. No, you can always agree to pay cash for the services - sometimes up front - and they will treat you, every one.

If you DON'T pay cash up front, they only have to treat you - or transport you to another hospital that will treat you - if you're in active labor (childbirth) or have a life threatening situation going on.

If you have a cold, they can turn you away.
