Question:

Are there still limitations on flying out of UK?

I'm flying out of Heathrow tomorrow to Asia. Just wondering if there are still restrictions on size of hand luggage, what you can include in it etc?

Also, are you still allowed to take food and drinks onto flights (i.e. crisps, bottle of coke etc?)

Thanks in advance.

  1. Yes there's still limitations on drinks and food.  With the luggage size you have to go on the airline's website.

  2. Some airlines and airpoerts still limit the amount of  hand luggage you can take on board, with some airports still insisting on one item only, as for bottled drinks, you will have to buy them airside, after you have passed through security. for more defined regulations, contact the airport, or the airline you will be travelling with.

  3. Put all liquids aerosols etc in your suitcase. Restrict hand luggage to books, papers, crosswords etc. Food and even bottled water are not to be taken on the flight. There`s loads on board (complimentary), to have in between "set" meal times, sandwiches, snacks, alcohol or soft drinks just go up and ask. Concentrate on items that will help relieve the long journey, and make your trip as enjoyable as you can.

  4. Your hand baggage can not be larger than

    56cm (22in) tall45cm (17.7in) wide

    25cm (10in) deep

If it is larger then it will not be allowed through security regardless of which airline you are flying with. Your airline may have smaller requirements though so I'd recommend checking your airline's website to be on the safe side.

Liquids must be in containers of less than 100ml and in a re-sealable clear bag no larger than 8inx8in. Only one bag per passenger is allowed.

Just to correct one of the previous answers, you are allowed to bring food with you, however some foods may be prohibited to bring into the country of your destination (mainly fruits, seeds, meats). So make sure to leave it on the plane if you have anything left of what you're bringing with you for your flight. Otherwise you may get caught in customs.
