  1. There are. Some were currently found in the Amazon Forest (search that up). We are kind of afraid of s******g them up like we did with every other people we "contacted". If it's going to be done. it's going to be done slowly. Otherwise, them living there doesn't bother anyone. Who cares if they are a part of the modern world or not?

  2. Turn it around. Would you want someone to tell you to dress a certain way, learn a new language and give up everything that's in your culture?

During the 1900s the government had boarding schools for Native Americans. The kids would be shipped hundreds of miles away from home. have their clothes burned, hair cut and not be allowed to speak their native language. The end result was some "before and after" photos an a lot of humans that didn't fit in anywhere.

We also have groups in the United States that choose to live apart from the mainstream culture. In April the  Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS).compound in Texas was raid and over 400 children removed.

We have  the "Coca-Cola Culture" where American soft drinks, fast food, clothing styles and entertainment are found throughout the world. Many groups are opposed to this. France purges it's language of "Le French Fry" while the Tailban and North Koreans heavily censor communications.

To whose standards should groups be integrated into and made to conform?

  3. Because theyd all drop dead from the flu a few months later. Isolated people have no reistance to the endemic diseases of the broader population.

Not to mention you'd be wrecking a unique culture and genetic record of population migrations.

  4. Yes, there are MANY groups of people all over the world who still live in a primitive type of way. Some of them actually know about and encounter modern civilization at times. Why can't they be integrated....they probably could be. The question should be, why aren't they? Believe it or not, some people actually don't want part of what we call "society" and are happy living the way that their ancestors have done for thousands of years.

I know of a few instances of when tribes have been contacted by the modern world - they looked at us like we are a bunch of freaks! Their women laughed at the idea of make-up and their men would rather walk through a forest or desert than take a car along a road. In all honesty, I give them credit for living the way they want to and rejecting modern society. Since when has "civilization" actually been civilized anyway? There are still wars, crime and poverty in the most advanced cities in the world and we are not all that happier than those living amoung nature.

  5. Yeah. Native people of the amazon. They're what we consider "primitive". But who are we to say they should become modern? That is their lifestyle and it still works. Why should they change?

Lesson of the day: cultural relativity vs ethnocentricity. That was a very ethnocentric question.

  6. There are. They can. Why would they want to be?

  7. What if they don't want to be? There are peoples around the world who still live fairly primitive lives, and if their cultures or societies haven't advanced on their own after all this time, as so many others did, then why force them to just because they aren't like us?

I would think it should be left up to them...but of course someone would have to contact them first, wouldn't they?

  8. I wouldn't consider any society more primitive than any other. Being an American and supposed to be in the a highly developed country, we exhibit warfare, crime and such other things. People shouldn't have to be integrated into a "modern Civilization" so to speak. European settlers had that mentallity in the Americas and destroyed Native American cultures.
