Are there stores similar to WalMart in Italy?

Question

I'm spending five weeks in Florence, and instead of packing soaps, shampoo, a hair dryer, etc. I was wondering if there were places to shop around Florence that would be reasonably priced?

Names and locations would be greatly appreciated!

its called auchans (not sure how to spell it)

pronounced "aww-shawns"

pretty much like walmart

Don't shop at Coop, go to Essalunga instead!

not at all.They are ok but not as big and not as cheap

There are Standa, Coop, Coin, and several other chains, but none exactly like WalMart -- thank God!  They offer everything you need at reasonable prices--but not as cheaply as in the US because the dollar is so weak right now.
