My Mom wants to go to college and take a course for Medical Billing & Coding.

She was laid off and I figured there might be programs that give grants or aid for people like her who are victims of the economy.

  1. There is not a age limit that stops people from getting money. Fill out FASFA if you get a really big EFC number , see if your college has a special circumstance form because she is laid for and not making the money she was before.  For financial aid she might have to take 6 credits to get help so you know.

  2. Federal Financial Aid is not based on age, or employment status, just income and a few other things.  Your mom should definitely apply on the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

But in addition to that, she should check with the Employment Department in the state where she lives.  Whether or not she's receiving unemployment, there might be retraining programs she's eligible for, since she was laid off.

    Good luck!

  3. She is a low income woman so it doesn't matter if she is an adult or not....

she will get financial aid and start her new career again

  4. https://www.fafsa.com/Forms/Ajax/FAFSA/D...
