Are there such things as false negative blood tests?

Has anyone ever had a positive HPT followed by a negative blood test?

My doctor gave me a qualitative blood test, which was negative.

I have heard of women who dont show up positive until 3 mnths or longer.

I read this HCG levels chart and even at 5 weeks a level of 18 mIU/ml is normal, and the doctors blood tests usually cut off around 25 mIU/ml.

I took a pregnancy test that was positive a week ago, but got the negative blood test results back today.

I took the blood test yesterday.

I might not be very far along either.

And the doctor said theres 'no way possible' that I could be pregnant.

But i've heard sooooo many cases where they're wrong.

But i've been having symptoms, and have even been getting really nausiated the last few mornings.

I feel im still pregnant because women say they just 'have that feeling' and know when they are.

I'm getting retested in a few weeks.

What do you think?

Should I get an ultrasound?

And has anyone ever gotten a positive blood test a few weeks later?

Also how do i get a quantitative blood test instead?

Thank you :)

  1. not likely it is a false +

  2. Get an HCG test done if you really want to know now. The hormones in every womans body is different, what may show up on a preg test at 7 weeks on 1 woman may show up on another at only 5 weeks. An HCG is a sure way of knowing for sure if you are pregnant, you can go to any hospital, any planned parenthood, or womens clinic, it may cost you $25-50 without insurance.
