Question:

Are there too many grey area calls in Nascar?

And do you think Nascar likes it that way? I don't think Nascar is scripting races, but they definitely can tweak things with all the ambiguity that exists within the rules. For example, if Robby Gordon would have passed the pace car, do you think he would have been penalized?

  1. Yes there are, without a doubt.  NASCAR uses it arbitrarily to penalize or not at their whim.  I cannot remember somebody getting penalized for passing the pace car in the cup series but it just leaves doubt in the minds of paranoid people.  I think Jr. won fair and square, I just don't like the fact that there IS a reason for the haters to detract from this and they open themselves to more scrutinizing.  The penciled in rules need to get put down in ink and enforced, NASCAR is not very consistent and that just leads to confusion and chaos.

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  2. There are a lot of grey areas, and i don't even think NASCAR can dispute that, but i have seen a lot of improvement on their part, so at least we know they are trying.

  3. You know NASCAR is what it is and is no more.  If you like it then watch it.  If you try to psychoanalyze it too much it will drive you crazy.  Just enjoy the ride.

  4. Maybe a bit, but I think its a fair enough sport.

  5. Nascar has a HUGE rule book they keep under lock & key. If you have noticed, they will makes rules leaning one way or the other.  I have noticed... (this is just me) that they will let some things slide for a few drivers, depending on who will make them the most $$$ on product sales.  Watch, some time, an see what calls Nascar makes against a driver who is up front who dosnt bring in a whole lot of sales of mechandize. They will frequantly get hit by a pas-threw penalty to get them farther back in the pack, so a hot driver who is bringing them in maga coin has a chance of winning a race.

  6. MY GOD PEOPLE,.....

    Give it a rest!!!!!

At least he didn't wreck someone, (hint, hint, wink, wink) to win.

Did any of you ever hear of strategy and luck. How many races last year ended under yellow? Three (I think), should any driver who finishes under caution, or god forbid not your favorite, have to be bashed constantly.

What if Kyle Petty (I know, I know) were racing and not announcing and he got the win? Would you all be whining about how the fix is in for Petty Enterprises???

  7. Honey, when would Robby Gordon ever be in a position to pass the pace car?

At least use feasible examples. =P

  8. this aint wrestling

  9. Well, there is a reason the NASCAR rule book is not available for sale or viewing. You have to be a NASCAR member to get a copy.

The ambiguity that exists in NASCAR is unreal. They choose what calls to make and on who to make them.

  10. I think Nascar, just like all other sports, have there questionable calls.

I do not think it is scripted at all.

  11. Long time fans know this is hardly anything new to the sport. And its definetly not the first incident of the year.

  12. if any other driver out there would have passed the pace car beside little E then they would have been penalized but no little E sucks to bad so nascar has to give him a win every 76 races.  jr doesnt even belong in the sprint cup and he would have  never even been looked at twice if it wasnt for his daddy.  im so sick of jr nation. hendricks motorsports was stupid for giving up kyle busch

  13. I don't think there used to be, like in all sports, but I don't like the way Brian France runs things and I've never agreed with anything Mike Helton does. I feel that rules changes should have to wait until the season is over like in football, not in the middle of a race unless it is a safety issue.

  14. Always has been, always will be gray areas in racing.

You haters are going to hang on this "passing the pace car" for how long?  There can't possibly be many more ways to ask the same questions...
