  1. Extremes of weather only happen occasionally in the UK, although flooding seems to be becoming more frequent for various reasons.  There was a notable hurricane in the south east of England in 1987 which uprooted trees and caused a lot of structural damage, but this was a very rare occurence.  There was a slight earthquake in the midlands some months ago and I have seen pictures on tv of tornadoes, but they happen very rarely.  All in all, it is quite a mild climate most of the time with plenty of rain making it a green and pleasant land in which to live!

    Yes, there are hurricanes in England but they are very rare.  More likely are storms that have gusts of hurricane force but not sustained winds, which makes them severe storms but not "hurricanes".
