    Most come from Eastern Europe and often come into Eastern Germany and Austria.

    This happened a couple of years ago and some of Bruno's "relatives" have been sighted since:

    In Scandinavia, especially Finland, they are regarded as a pest.

  4. There are about 14,000 bears in Europe outside of Russia. Most of these are concentrated in Eastern European mountains and forests. Bavaria has been trying to reintroduce the brown bear recently to the mountainous area of southeastern Germany.

  5. Estimated 5000 in Carpathia and Transylvania. I think there are still a few in the Pyrenees of Spain, too.
