Are there wolves in Connecticut?

Yesterday, my husband and I saw a sleeping animal curled around a small tree in our back yard, and I wish I had film in my camera. It wasn't a fox, or a coyote, because we have them, too. It wasn't any kind of domestic dog we've ever seen. It was as big as a german sheperd, but gray with some reddish-brown coloring, and even some white. The tail was somewhat bushy, but the face. . . the face was very cunning and evil looking, especially around the eyes. It was definitely predatory! Now we have seen an occasional wildcat, and even a bear, but never a wolf, and we have an abundance of turkeys, and deer and other wildlife here in Harwinton, so I'm wondering if this animal was around for the good hunting.

  1. No.  Wolfs were killed off by the early settlers.  Animals don't have cunning and evil faces.  Those are human characteristics.  If you got that close to it then you should have realized it is not a wolf but a domestic dog.

The wild cat you see is the bobcat.

  2. Duhhhhh ofcourse there are wolves in Connecticut
