I am trying my hardest to understand algebra. Today I am doing one and two step equations.

Is my homework right. If any is wrong can you tell me how to make them right.

1. 2n - 5=7 n=12

2. y/2 + 5=-12 y=14.3

3. x/3 - 9=0 x=3

4. -6 + 2c=-10 c= -4

5. a/4 - 21=7 a=7

6. 2n + 1=10 n=18

7. 2/5x - 7=41 x=45.3

8. 9 + n/5= 19 n=5.3

  1. a. ....using this website and asking for the right answers is cheating

    b. ....question 1 is wrong

    c. ....why would i waste my time doing your homework....i have my own

  2. no they are all wrong

  3. 1. Should be n=6..

  4. hold on im gonna work them out right now...

okay. i'll try to show you how to do them.

    1.  2n - 5 = 7

              +5   +5      you add 5 b/c + is the opposite of - and a

          2n = 12          - was in front of 5.

-----   -----        you divide both sides by 2. leaving n on one

           2       2           side and 6 on another. so n=6.

             n = 6

thats one of the easier ones. here is a more difficult one:

    2.   y / 2 + 5 = -12          do the same with the 5s as you did

                   -5       -5           before. then you just have y / 2 = 7. so

           y / 2 = 7                   think of what numbers could go there

-34 = y                     make that statement true and that is

                                            -34.

those are the 2 basic formulas on here so i hope it helps.

these are the correct answers to the rest of the problems:

    1.  n = 6

    2.  y = -34

    3.  x = 3

    4.  c = -2

    5.  a = 112

    6.  n= 4.5

    7.  not sure how to do...sorry :( but i dont want to give you the wrong answer

    8.  n = 50

    there you go :)

    hope it helps.

  5. nooo.

you have to go step by step:

    1. 2n-5=7

first you add five to seven to cancel it out.

    2n=12

then you divide 12 by 2 so the answer is 6.

you want to get n alone.

sorry to say, but others are wrong too...

try doing it like that ^^

    i hope that helps.

  6. wat ever the letter is and they gave u the value of it like number N= 12 the answer would be 2x12-5=19

  7. shouldn't you be physically checking them instead of asking strangers?

  8. I only looked at number 8.  It is wrong.

    9 + n/5=19 (subtract 9 from both sides)

n/5=10 (now multiply 5 on each side so you can get n by itself)

    n=50

  9. lol'd im going into 7th grade and i still dont understand it!!!

but ya i think you did a pretty good job.

  10. The answers to your questions is:

    1. 6

    2. -34

    3. 27

    4. -2

    5. 112

    6. 4.5

    7. 120

    8. 50

The key to algebra is to get the variable (the letter) by itself on one side of an equation.

If we have 2n-5=7 we must add 5 to both sides because whatever you do on one side you must do to the other. Plus, its best to get rid of the number that is added of subtracted first because its easier.

So once we added 5 on to both sides we should have an equation that looks like this: 2n= 12. Now we have to get rid of the 2 to get the value of n. When a number is next to a letter it means multiplication. In order to get rid of the 2 we must divide both sides by 2 because division is opposite to multiplication.

When we do this we should get n=6 and thats it.

  11. I just looked at number one and it looks wrong.

The rest looks like a bunch of gibberish even though I passed Algebra.

    o_o

  12. Ans.

    1. n=6

    2. y+-14

and i gotta go but all your other ones are wrong too

  13. Hi!

I'm going to help you out on this one...

    1. n does not equal 12. You have to go through the steps this way:

    2n-5=7

2n=12  (bring the 5 to the other side like this 2n-5+5=7+5 and the 5's cancel)

therefore n=6 (you need to divide 2n/2=12/2)

Remember, what you do to one side of the equal side you must do the same to the other side too.

    Similarly,

    y/2+5= -12

    y/2+5-5=-12-5

    y/2=-17

    2(y/2)= 2(-17)

    y=34

Keep following this method for your answers..I assume your teacher wants you to show your work, so a step by step process is really good to have.

    3. x=27

    4. c= -2

    5. a=112

    6. n=4.5

    7. x=120

    8. n=50

I will explain number 7 again

    (2/5)x-7=41

    (2/5)x=48

    ((2/5)x)/2=48/2

    (1/5) x= 24

    ((1/5) x)*5= 24*5

    x=120

This is assuming you meant the x was on top of the fraction, not the bottom ((2/5)x is x on top...instead of (2/5x) where x would be on the bottom).

    Good luck on the rest!

  14. You have mistakes on all of them.  On most, it seems like you combine the constants fine, but then you forget to divide or multiply each side of the equation by the number necessary to get the variable by itself.  For example, in the first equation, you need to divide both sides by 2 to get n by itself.  When you're finished, you need to plug your answer into the orignial equation to check that it's right.  In the first question, if you replace n with your original answer of 12, it doesn't work:  (2*12) - 5 = 19 (not 7).

    1) 2n = 12; n = 6

    2) y/2 = -17; y = -34

    3) x/3 =9; x=27

    4) 2c = -4; c=-2

    5) a/4 = 28; a=112

    6) 2n = 9; n=4.5

    7) 2/5x = 48; multiply both sides by 5/2; x = 120

    8) n/5 = 10; n = 50

    Hope that helps.

  15. you must be kidding  right i will learn those in 50 years

  16. 1. n=6 you forgot to divide each side by 2.

hopefully someone else with help with the rest!  gl
