are beans bad for you baked beans theres sugar in them but then people say beans are good for you?????? : /

baked beans do have sugars and salts in them but that is the sauce not the beans

tinned stuff tends to have added ingredients in doesn't it.

i'm not too sure though, i always thought beans were healthy (well to yourself and not everyone else if you catch my drift ;) ahaha)

I have only heard people say that baked beans are bad for small children because of the sugar and salt. I read in the paper once that a guy died because he ate nothing but beans on toast for years, but i'm sure you're not doing that.

baked beans have lots of stuff added, such as sugar...but beans in general are good for you.

If you want to eat beans, you are better off buying either dried beans (which may need soaking), or tinned beans (which are tinned in water, not with a sauce of any sort - these are alot quicker and easier to use than dried beans).  You can add them to a recipe - these are really good for you and very versatile.  Try making a mixed bean salad, or adding them into a tomato sauce for pasta.

It is probably mostly the sauce, like in Bush Bake beans that has sugar.  If you want to make sure they are better for you, buy the ones that are dried and in bags, like rice, and cook them yourself and you won't have to worry about added sugar.

Beans are great for you! They have fiber, protein, and iron. Canned baked beans, however, have added sugar and sodium so I would stay away from those. Just buy a bag of beans, soak or boil them, and there you go!

Beans are good for you. They contain selenium etc which is essential. Going for the lower sugar/salt versions should put your mind at rest.

beans are a best source of legumes for your substitute for meat.

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU . its not that the legumes we vegetarian substitute for the meat ( my bad, i said it the wrong way ) but i think that the MEAT is the substitute for the legumes!! =]

back on track , baked beans have a high percentage of iron ( helping brain )

Some baked beans come with reduced salt and no sugar.  Read the labels.  Sugar is only bad if you are not able to utilise it properly, ie if you are diabetic.  You are not going to be eating it every day, so once in a while is not bad.
