Any Katana that can not be disassembled is worhtless.  You can bank on that.  Sword care is vital to the life of the Katana as well as a symbolic and spiritual gesture to the maker of the sword for putting so much care into his work forging the steel that makes such a Katana.  Even mass produced less than "top quality" swords like Masahiro swords:
