I know what they feel like, but i'm only having the pain in my abdomen, not my back. They feel like really bad cramps in the middle of my stomach. Do you think they are contractions? I know it doesn't really matter but on Tuesday the doctor said I was 3 centimeters. And now im 2 days past due

  1. Possibly! They should be getting stronger and more consistent the closer to labor!

  2. i dont know you need more to go on. You dont always get cramps in your back. Some people do some dont. Touch your tummy, is it rock hard when you feel the cramps? And I do mean hard hard. Are you timming the pain? If its a steady constant pain then its not. If it comes and goes time it. And most of the time its not just in one spot in the middle its a larger scale of pain. But contractions dont always mean labor. You can have contractions early and it can be a cause of being sick, or certain pains (like kidney stones) or diahrea ect.

If they get longer and closer and more and more painful then call the oncall OB.

  3. if in doubt call your Dr.  Change position's and if any liquid  or fluid go to the hospital.  Time the cramps your whole belly will feel hard. good luck!

  4. Are the pains regulated?  If so then you are having contractions...if not then if is probably braxston hicks.  Please keep in mind though that you can actually dialate and have a baby with unregulated contractions (I know I have done it)...so if you are the least bit concerned, go to Labor and Delivery and let them monitor you.

    Congratulations and Good luck!!

  5. probably, i have never ever had back pain or labor with either one of my kids, start timing them, walk and drink some water to see if they go bye bye, if not head out to the hospital

  6. It might be, time the pain and if you really cant handle it, call your doctor and go from there.

  7. They could be. I'm 36 weeks and have had Braxton-Hicks contractions and they definitely feel like cramping and pressure. I feel my lower belly above my pelvic area and it gets hard. If you are that close to being due maybe you should start timing them. I think they have to come at a certain frquency and be longer than a minute. Also, you will lose your mucous plug.

    Good Luck:)
