I am a freshman in high school (i know a little young to get into knowing how to get into a university, but i really REALLY want to get into wharton.) I have a 4.0 GPA and by my senior year i plan to have taken 4 or 5 AP classes. I am also taking many business classes. I play baseball and wrestling (i plan to be wrestling captain by senior year), I am going to volunteer as a groundskeeper at my local little league, I have and going to volunteer with the wrestling youth club, I am going to work as a caddy at a very nice golf club, I am in MENS (Men Encouraging Non-violence Strength) club, and I plan to be in my schools DECA(a national marketing) club next year. What other things do I need to do to get into UPenn Wharton?

  1. Colleges and universities are not only looking for number of hours, but your motivation. Why have you volunteered and also been in these extra-curricular activities? How have your volunteering and extra-curricular activities helped build your skills (self-discipline, organization, etc.) and connections to the community? How have these activities contributed to your preparation for post-secondary education and life in general? How have you balanced these activities with your studies? What do you plan on doing in relation to extra-curricular activities or volunteering when at university?

You've got a nice foundation of community involvement, but if your only reason in doing so is to get into UPenn Wharton, you might want to rethink that answer.

  2. These extra curriculars look really good on your application for college, but you need to be more active in the community.  If you live in a small community, organize a clean the earth day, volunteer your time at a elder community center(have the manager of the facility document your time though) , you need to use the society to your advantage(your activities are sport related, which is fine), but acceptance into Wharton is really on your valour to your community as a contributer.  Good Luck
