Question:

Are these finches eggs any good?

I adopted a young pair of zebra finches and the female is laying eggs every day. She doesn't have a nest that I can just take out. She laid one yesterday on the floor of the cage and one today inside the food dish (which does look like a little cave). Are these eggs any good? They are very young, just got their zebra markings these past few days. When are they old enough to produce good eggs? How can I prevent her from laying more eggs? (she will need a break soon!)

  1. take the eggs away from her. they probably arent any good unless she was kept in a cage with a male! then you may have a baby on ur hands if so watch the eggs and seee if your finch is caring for them!

  2. You can't stop her from laying eggs.  As to if they are good or not it is hard to tell.  I raise many fiches, paraketts, and cockatels.  And it veried with the individual bid.  YOU SHOULD PUT A NEST IN THERE FOR HER.   AND SOME NESTING MATERIAL.  Usually after she lays so many in the nest she will set on them.
