I'm on a diet, but can you recommend which diet works best?

How long will it take to loose 1 stone on a healthy diet?

Also, can you post some of your dieting experiences?

Thank you x

  1. i think the best way to go about loosing weight is not to starve yourself of the good stuff! any food can be ok as long as you balance it out good with bad eat little and often and excersize as much as you feel comfotable with. i'd personly recommend water areobics i do it 3 times a week and have lost 3 stone in a year while still eatin cabury out of business! lol ot's lots of fun and because your in water you hardly feel the burn.

    hope all goes well x

  2. Go on a No CARB diet!  I suggest you stay off the cheese and soup!  If you want to drink Milk, try drinking low fat 2% milk or soy milk... it's much healthier and lesser calories!!! Try eating all white meat, veggies, and fruits, too!!

    GOOD LUCK!!

  3. skim milk is good

potatoes.....not the best when on a diet

baked beans......go for raw things that arent baked or transformed

    soup...from a can...not rly....home made is better....creamy soups arent good

    cheese...low fat is good

  4. milk - try switching to fat free! We use it ourselves and once you get used to it, you stop noticing any difference in the flavor.

potatoes -  I wouldn't eat them every day! But they do have nutritional value! Try topping a baked potato with fat free plain yogurt instead of sour cream to cut calories

baked beans- I would stay away from them.  FULL of sugar! Instead, try a bowl of black beans! Super tasty :)

soup- soups contain a LOT of sodium, which is not very good for you.  However, home made soups can be extremely healthy and delicious! I make a lot of soups at our house.  Some of our favorites are broccoli and toasted almond, Moroccan root vegetable and fresh tomato

cheese- again...everything in moderation.  Cheese has it's benefits, but it is also fairly high in fat and calories.  A little bit goes a long way!

  5. skimmed milk (30-35 calories per 100ml)

or alpro light soya milk  (22 calorie per 100ml)

or so good fat free soya milk (30 cals per 100ml)

potatoes with skins-baked not roasted and with no oil

baked beans are fine-for a diet to reduce sugar cravings get the reduced sugar variety

cottage cheese is better than cheese on a diet. if you need cheese, get a strong mature cheddar or goats cheese that you don't need much of to get a strong flavor

soup-very good. broths and vegetable based are the best for filling up on- just avoid the creamy/cheesy varieties out there

wholegrains are important for staying full-try oats as porridge and make using water to fill you up, wholegrain brown bread, brown rice, bran flakes, wholewheat pasta, home popped popcorn (sprinkle on salt or sweetener)

protein is important for satiety and losing weight-try egg whites (17 calories per egg white) if you want to make an omelet use 1 whole egg and 2 or 3 egg whites

tofu or soya pieces or quorn- low fat and very good for losing weight and health

beans and lentils-also full of fibre-make salads, dahls, put on baked potatos etc

nuts-snack on these, though mix with fruit and moniter portion sizes-try a variety-pistachios, cashews, almonds, walnuts, peanuts-have raw and not roasted.

yogurt-increases fullness and good for you! freeze to make it last longer

vegetables-very important for filling up and very low calorie

try broccoli, cauliflower, bell peppers, eggplant, carrot, celery, cucumber, lettuce etc use sauces based on tomato or vegetables like ratatouile or tomato and basil rather than bechamel, cream or cheese sauce

spices-make you feel full faster as you can tell your eating something quicker -use chilli, jalepenos, cumin etc

healthy fats-keep to a minimum but use these to increase satiety-fats from nuts, instead of butter use mashed avocado-about a tablespoon should do

add herbs and spices to flavor things rather than fat and sugar

fruits-bananas are higher in calories than most fruits-freeze and add to smoothies or blend with a little water and blend to make healthy icecream!

    grapes-amazing when frozen-just try and you'll see

little oranges like manderins/clemantines low in calorie and sweet and tasty

raspberries, strawberries and blackberries and blueberries are low in calorie but sweet, tasty and full of fibre

melon is mainly water so very low in calories

    as is kiwi

and mango is soo flavoursome and good in fruit salads or smoothies

    good luck¬!

  6. no diet works just cut down slowly

  7. Milk is good as long as its non-fat

Potatos are good as long as its not fries

Baked beans are healthy but you have to watch how much suger is in them

Depends what kind of soup, usually the creamier/ whiter it is the more calories/ fat is in it because it uses more cream.

    Cheese is good in moderation.

Try south beach diet, great recipes  and no counting points.

  8. change your mind set to eating only meat (chicken, beef, seafood, pork, etc.)

eat all the cheeses you want. easy on the milk, use heavy cream or half and half instead.

breakfast stuff like eggs, bacon, sausage, links, ham, etc.

also eat veggies that are more green in color - salads, cucumbers, asparagus, green beans, etc.

eat fruits higher in fiber - strawberries, any berries, watermelon, apricots, etc.

ummmmmm, nuts are good too - pecans, peanuts, cashews, etc in moderation.

stay away from breads, pastas, rice, potatoes, beans, etc.

LOW CARB DIET. I maintain my weight doing these things. Every couple weeks, OK OK maybe once a week I junk out and eat regular foods - brownies and ice cream, pasta, a buffet, LOL

  9. As long as you eat them in healthy proportions they are healthy

  10. Best diet is to eat healty food, drink plenty of water, excirsise , preferably in the fres air. Healthy food would be veg ,fruit, wheat, nuts, seeds, pulses, wholegrain bread...etc..avoid eating loads of meat, especialy pork and beef, oily fish, dairy, cakes and choclates, sweets, fizzy drinks( loads of sugar in them). Have three balanced meals a day, eat less before you go to bed, try avoid snacking between meals, dont starwe your self either, make sure you get everything you need with your food. Drink at least two litters of water a day, excirsise at least twenty minutes in fresh air...really works helps not only to loose extra weight but be more healthy aswell, you have to try eating like that all the time though...
