That the President, Prime Minister, etc must have charisma, eloquence, humility, academic and professional qualifications/experience?

Could a female or a male with an ethnic background with a pleasant disposition, sincerity, X-factor and of young age fit the bill better? They say that females at most levels of leadership ensure peace and progress through concensus-building, and cleaner administration.

Or does the prosperity and destiny of a nation really depend on the credibility of the top 20-50 administrators?

  1. Would also require a good political platform. Solar Power Socialism could combine most of the elements a great poitical leader might require.

  2. Ensure peace and progress through consensus-building, and cleaner administration?

Peace does not come from consensus building, it comes from having the fortitude to defend your country from all aggressors foreign and domestic.  All consensus building does is freeze the decision making process.

If you mean a cleaner administration because everyone likes you because you can't make a decision by yourself and have to ask everyone else for an opinion before you act then yes you have cleaner administration.

But of course you haven't made a decision or taken any action because of the need to build consensus.

Do you think this an effective and efficient governing style?

These are illusions of great leadership, use your mind and think about your assertions you submitted to us.

    What is an X-factor?

Give me the wisdom of age rather than the X-factor of young age if it includes the type of thinking in this question.

    Thanks for the question.

  3. To run a country one should have experience outside the hothouse and cosseted arena of politics where you are paid handsomely for mucking up everything and just have to bleat "lessons will be learnt".

A highly successful businessman coupled with a couple of the best from the Armed Forces would serve well.

Why do we have a bunch of 2nd rate incompetent greedy pigs who could not hold down a job in the real world?  We vote them in so I guess we get what we deserve but patience is wearing thin.

  4. I have no illusions about Gordon Brown's potential!I would sooner vote for a Gerbil!I would get more sense and honesty than I am getting now!!

  5. sincerity and a pleasant disposition will get you nowhere in politics, and it would be bad for the country too. Think about it, if your political leader was a nice, pleasant, easy going sort of fellow, he'd be completely run over by every other political leader in the world. It's a dirty game, but we're stuck with it for the moment.

  6. To a certain extent those qualities are illusions about great leadership.  They need the ability to build support and convince people, or they cannot gain power.  Being in tune with the times is vital for great leadership.

Prosperity is certainly helped by having good quality administrators in government and industry.  More importantly, prosperity and good destiny need stability and a justice system that functions well enough to thwart thugs.

  7. Service to the people is the most important trait of a good leader not charism, eloquence and academic excellence.
