I don't mean children who believe in nonsense.Adults who believe in the supernatural.Psychics,Ghosts,Demons all that nuttiness. Are our schools that bad?Do they teach Science? How do they suspend common sense to that extent? Are the parents at fault? What's going on here?

  1. people like you are non believers - you dont believe or you wont and then you bag those people who do believe. I have personally had lots of experiences with the supernatural - mostly spirits and I am a true believer. I also believe in reading cards - not tarrot although some do but a 52 card deck and believe you me I can read things that are about to happen, my grandmother was so adept she advised business people just by reading the cards. People like me are not deluded - we hold down jobs, many of us have degrees but we choose to believe. I have helped many people on this site who have had dealings with their dearly departed crossing over and making contact and people who have had encounters with spirits. I have encountered numerous spirits and no amount of science with make me disbelieve. There are hundreds of people who believe in spirits and in fact since the beginning of time peple have had a different definition. its amazing how many people ask the question "have you seen a spirit" and there are 40 replies, i think more people have than have not had encounters with the supernatural.  So to you I leave this

"To the believer no proof in necessary and to the skeptic no proof is possible".

  2. Beauty of Mathematics

    People think I'm weird, because

I love pyramids and their symmetry!

There is symmetry in numbers. I am fascinated

by its beauty, although numbers don't play a great role in

my life any longer, other than to buy or pay in life and other miscellaneous!

    1 x 8 + 1 = 9

    12 x 8 + 2 = 98

    123 x 8 + 3 = 987

    1234 x 8 + 4 = 9876

    12345 x 8 + 5 = 98765

    123456 x 8 + 6 = 987654

    1234567 x 8 + 7 = 9876543

    12345678 x 8 + 8 = 98765432

    123456789 x 8 + 9 = 987654321

    1 x 9 + 2 = 11

    12 x 9 + 3 = 111

    123 x 9 + 4 = 1111

    1234 x 9 + 5 = 11111

    12345 x 9 + 6 = 111111

    123456 x 9 + 7 = 1111111

    1234567 x 9 + 8 = 11111111

    12345678 x 9 + 9 = 111111111

    123456789 x 9 +10= 1111111111

    9 x 9 + 7 = 88

    98 x 9 + 6 = 888

    987 x 9 + 5 = 8888

    9876 x 9 + 4 = 88888

    98765 x 9 + 3 = 888888

    987654 x 9 + 2 = 8888888

    9876543 x 9 + 1 = 88888888

    98765432 x 9 + 0 = 888888888

    Brilliant, isn't it?

And finally, take a look at this symmetry:

    1 x 1 = 1

    11 x 11 = 121

    111 x 111 = 12321

    1111 x 1111 = 1234321

    11111 x 11111 = 123454321

    111111 x 111111 = 12345654321

    1111111 x 1111111 = 1234567654321

    11111111 x 11111111 = 123456787654321

    111111111 x 111111111=12345678987654321

enjoy life, and let others enjoy as they please to do!

the problem is not paranormal or supernatural,it's

a matter of what people, love, like, and choose to do in life!

  3. how do you know ghosts aren't real have you ever seen one have you ever felt one.how do you know supernaturals not real you never had a felling something wrong an found out its true something woes wrong. how do you know threes a god you cant see him you cant touch him you cant smell him.so how does any Dody know its not real.

  4. Ignorance is educable, stupidity is forever.  Stupidity is a faith-based initiative.  Mystics are baffled by the obvious yet possess a complete understanding of the nonexistent.

Consider Princess Di's stable of incredibly expensive psychics, seers, and astrologers.  Might one suspect that at least one of them in a  moment of  operative lucidity would have blurted some tidbit of precognition supportive of continued employment?  She died of neglect, you know, bleeding out an hour after the accident.  The supernatural garbage was taken out thereafter.

Hindus have 300 million gods (30 crores).  Would you have us believe that not a one of them is real?

  5. Well I think William Shakespeare said "Truth is stranger than fiction"  and if you had a extraordinary experience not explainable by any means, you would change your tune.  Go to the SciFi Channels website and read up on TAPS.  Plumbers by trade and extremely down to earth people.  If you have one open minded bone in your entire body, it will give you something to mull over

  6. Oookay then...

Guess what? I believe in psychic powers. Yeah, so laugh at me. I don't care.

I see it from a scientific perspective though. Moving objects with your mind, quite possible. Communicating with the dead, not possible. Once the brain looses it's electrical charge, the consciousness dies.

Those people who charge for psychic readings? Immoral pricks who create a bad stereotype. Those who take advantage of the grieving, very bad people. They're a disgrace not just to psychics, but to humans as a whole.

Oh, wait. I believe anyway. So... I'm a thick headed idiot who's  the subject of... Let me guess... Bad lifestyle? Oh yeah. Being an atheist towards Christianity REALLY makes me evil anyway, I suppose.

You know what I also find funny? This.

People say psychic powers are fake, yet there has been proof. People say god is real, yet there hasn't been any proof. And we're the ones living in a day dream? Lawl...

(this post wasn't meant in a flaming manner. Simply a very strangely worded enlightening one. not trying to be offensive)

  7. Well, I think our educational system is partly to blame. But we live in a religious society as well where many beliefs from the Dark Ages are still encouraged and passed down from generation to generation.

I think that a heavier emphasis on science education can help, but it can't entirely eradicate these silly beliefs. I'm no psychologist, but it seems to me that humans are hard-wired to believe in gods and boogeymen. People who realize that they cannot entirely control their worlds tend to find comfort in the idea of gods and angels who look over them and protect them. It's very comforting and hence very difficult to let go of these beliefs.

Some people are always looking for something more, something to give meaning to the seemingly random events that occur in their lives, and the supernatural is a very convenient idea. Astrology, spirit guides, fortune telling and the like all are crutches that people use to help them cope with the world. Psychic powers are a way for them to feel like they have some power or special understanding over nature, or perhaps that they are special in this universe. Even the mere belief in paranormal activities may make them feel like they know something that others don't, as if they are more "in tune" with nature.

So when they see or experience something that seems unexplained or strange to them (or even when they don't and just want to believe anyway) they automatically leap to the most absurd conclusions -- that ghosts exist, or that people have auras, or that alien spaceships are visiting us, or that crystals can heal people, etc.

To specifically answer your question, people who believe in woo-woo nonsense are not necessarily stupid or silly, though it seems that most often they are not very highly educated. I think that there are a variety of motivations behind woo-woo belief, but generally speaking belief in the supernatural is more rooted in the emotional aspect of a person's mind rather than the intellectual. People can compartmentalize their beliefs to a great degree. That's why we can on occasion have very intelligent people believing in the strangest nonsense.

  8. Metaphysics is a science along with parapsychology. Einstien was interested in both along with other intelligent people such as Lincoln.

People once scoffed the the idea of germs so you never know what may be discovered.

  9. There are many people who claim to be psychic and many others who pretend to be so that they can bilk others out of thier hard earned cash.  Those people are charlatans and they should more correctly be considered illusionists or fakers.  I'm sorry that you have never met somebody with real skills in this area.

I am a scientist, and I do believe the evidence that I have seen.  I have seen double blind testing done and have statistically analyzed the results with the help of experts.  The results are not always astounding, but when they are statistically significant, I pay attention to the data.  You will always find fakes in this field, but it does not mean that there are no trained practitioners of psychic science.

You will find people who believe in the TV show that you referenced just as you will find people who believe the moon landing never happened.  You can ridicule those people if you feel that it is worth your time, or you can continue to live your life with your beliefs and allow others to continue with theirs.

Perhaps you will have an experience someday that could change your mind.  I would hope that you would continue to be open minded about the possibilities and recognize it when it occurs.

  10. some people just watch entirely too much television....

  11. I think the problem is that they teach science for the tests - science as a series of facts instead of what it really is, a process for figuring out how things work.  They don't teach critical thinking in schools - you learn that in college, if you make it that far.  In schools, you learn that what you are told is the truth, and you accept it.  Which makes you very likely to just believe anything anyone else says - like paranormal activity.  The parents often believe that c**p too, so they aren't any help.  People easily decive themselves when they don't understand what's going on.

But it DOES do damage.  My aunt recently spent $2,000 on a psychic reading - for what?  It's not real.  People fall for those free energy scams all the time, losing their life savings.  Cancer patients are desperate and often fall for scams of alternative medicine, dying much earlier than they had to or not getting the cure they could have had.  The US economy is based on science and technology.  How long can we last if most of the population believes in ghosts and fairies and a 6000 year old Earth?

  12. If you define supernatural as something that can not be explained by science, then I think there is plenty of it around.

If you are suggesting that everything in the universe is known by man and can be explained by our science, then we can stop studies and research right now. There is no more need.

Everything is not explained, and all physics are not known.

Any scientist or physicist should be able to tell you how limited our knowledge of the world we live in actually is.

  13. While the schools teach Science, it is not their business to challenge people's beliefs in the supernatural.  Somethings things happen that are so far-fetched as to shatter the laws of statistics (Murphy's Law - in an experiment, you are always on the wrong side of the 2-sigma limit).  Nor do I think it should be business of schools.  After all, what harm does it do in the long run?

  14. its human nature to be curious about things, especially the unknown. out of high school since early 1970s, i"ve learned more about different subjects and life on my own than i ever learned back then. Obsessing on these things is a different story, for some. They are interesting and curious subjects to say the least.....maybe some day science will shed some light on them. keep an open mind, and use your own judgments.

  15. Neither. We are the ones who do not believe every fact these stupid schools throw at us. Sure, most is true to some extent, but we don't listen to what everyone says and go with the "norm," and try to appear normal. There are actually a lot of people who have experienced things like this and do not say, so it makes most of us look like idiots because we're "strange"  or "stupid" to you. Except things, even if you can't see them. Not everything is black and white, true or false. There is always a greater meaning to everything, and all that lies in between. And "TR," I don't think I'm "special" in this world or have a greater importance, I've actually never talked about this stuff except on this site, where no one knows me. I don't want people to know, because people like yourself will shun me. It is NOT for those reasons. If you don't believe in what you can't see, then what about air? Or sound? You can't see those, can you? But you know they're there, because it is plain to you. If you open your mind more to things like this, you will understand.

  16. You know guys, I think the most of you-all are fools! Yes FOOLS. You think the more intelegent or more educated you are, the more you think you can look into reality. What is, what isn't.What's true, what can and can't be! My father was a very educated man.He was one of the origonal designers of the Space Shuttle. He and he alone came up with the way to keep the tiles on it, when they started falling off before the first ever flight. He was the chief engineer for the leading edge wings design, and designed it .He also was the First person they called in to design the Stelth . Dad loved the Flying Wing, and thus designed the Stelth after that. He wasn't stupid by far.Dad never believed in Ghosts, spirits and the like.Never, until the night he witnessed our dead sister next to him! And we (Two sisters and a brother) at ages 7,8,9,10 while inocentley playing in our back yard, was infringed upon by a flying sauser that stopped and hovered above our heads for five minutes, wern't just thinking up ways to make ourselves look better or feel better, than anyone else! Cripes, we where only playing Horses! So If you want to close you minds to things that are unexplainable, I'm sorry for you. If you think an educated person is above that ,think again. Sorry to inform you of this,or to break your tiny little bubbles,But there ARE things that can't be explained ,and are real! That's if your one of the one's that have been chosen to see them! I consider myself very lucky to have eperienced both! Chosen to be allowed to see them! Fools!
