I have a dent on the side of my car and I always get approached by guys when I'm at a gas station or the market who want to fix it for me.

Has anyone ever had their cars fixed by one of these guys or are they just scamming me?

Please help!!!

  1. Generally, legit businesses aren't hitting up customers in parking lots.  They advertise and have word of mouth recommendations.

Do they have a legal shop and proper licenses or are they doing it "on the side?"

You can get good work done this way (and it's not usually entirely legal), but I wouldn't trust anyone that hadn't come from a trusted person's recommendation.  You just have no recourse if things go bad.

  2. NOT LEGIT. They'll use a spray can which will peel in a few weeks. If you have dents they use body filler without prepping the surface and will fall out in a short time. Go to a body shop and have it done right. It's cheaper in the long run.

  3. They might have a suction cup dent puller most likely.

You can buy them at a lot of parts houses.

So you could buy one too and hang around gas stations offering to pull out the dents once you learn the trick.
