okay, lately my dad (47) got a tattoo. he also works out everyday. and for the past 3-4 years he's been saying that he's gonna get a corvette, and now next summer he's getting a corvette *for sure*. and he dyes his hair every 2 months. and now every time we go out and buy clothes, he tends to buy similar clothes as me, and exact shoes.

I'm not embarrassed, but I'm just curious, is he in a mid-life crisis? when will it wear off? and how come my mom isn't acting "strange" like he is?

  1. It sounds like he is & women are always different than men

  2. Yes, mid-life crisis for sure.  He wants to feel and be young again.  Most moms accept their age more gracefully.

  3. Your fathers just living,if i had the cash i'd be doing the same.

  4. haha sounds like one, especially if he didn't used to be like this. oh well, it should go away eventually when he realizes how silly it is. but if not, then as long as it isn't hurting anyone, then let it be. what's wrong with having a "cool" dad? haha

  5. Yes, these are signs of a midlife crisis. Usually when a man goes through this he tries to make himself feel younger by buying a new car that makes him feel young, or buying younger clothing or getting a tattoo--just like your dad. A midlife crisis can last from a few months to a few years. The same thing happened to my dad, but a little less extreme. My mom did a lot of research on it and that's how i know all of this. Your mom is probably just trying not to upset him by not bringing it to his attention.
