Are these symptoms of menopause?

I am 46 years old and over the past three years my cycles have not been every 28 days. They are now every 24 to 32 days apart. I now am at day 35 with no period in sight. I seem to get cramps, but there is no sign of starting. I have also been very moody, taking things a bit to personal, especially at home. There are no symptoms of pregnancy. Any suggestions.

  1. Yes, those are symptoms. When I was 46, my periods were coming nine months apart. Prior to that, they were coming every 21 days for a few years, and then I started skipping them (42-64 days).

And when you don't get a period, it's like you're stuck in PMS mode until you do.

You may also start getting hot flashes. I'd love to suggest a way to deal with them, but unfortunately I'm still getting them every day and none of the usual cures have worked. The only thing that keeps them down to a dull roar is airconditioning.

  2. Yes they are but they say once you've gone a year without a period then you have gone through full menopause. It's a very long process and hormonal changes cause us to be moody, oversensitive, and even nasty at times. Looks like the journey has begun for you. Explain what you're going through to your family so they can be supportive and understanding. It's hard on them too.

  3. Sounds like it. Mood swings, irregular periods, heavy periods lasting longer. Headaches.

See the doctor if anything is worrying you. You will get hot sweats too and they seem worse to you than to other people. You think you look like a lobster all red. But look in the mirror you will look fairly normal.

Ride them out. Relax and get plenty of rest whenever you are able.

    Good luck.

  4. well, when you start getting hot flashes, and when your period is really out of whack, then you may possibly going through menopause.

  5. Sounds typical menopause symptoms.  I got moody and depressed, not my normal self at all.

The occasional hot flushes were not pleasant, especially at night. 25 years later I still get the odd one. Some people take HRT hormone replacement therapy and find help there if things get too bad.Medical opinions are dividedon HRT.

The hot flushes do not always stop after a year, you are very lucky if they do!  I've talked to women whose flushes have stopped quickly and some who still get them in their 80s.

Bacterial vaginosis my foot. Don't go there, if you are worried better to see your GP.
