Are these trades fair?

I get Welker, LJ, Rivers, and Minnesota D. I give Peyton, Chad Johnson, Thomas Jones, and Tennessee D. I think the other person is getting ripped.

And is this trade fair?- I get Hasselbeck, Andre Johnson, Colston, and Michael Turner, and I give Peyton Manning, Chad Johnson, Greg Jennings, and Thomas Jones,

  1. Gotta go with the first trade, too many question marks in the second one

  2. I wouldn't do either trade, but that's me.

In the first one, you are counting on Welker reproducing '07 numbers which won't happen, LJ is solid but similar to TJ, Rivers should be good (Peyton-good though?), and the Minny D will dominate.  Peyton is Peyton, Chad Johnson is Ocho Cinco and I think will play well this year, Thomas Jones is going to do alright with Tony Richardson blocking up the middle for him, and the Tenny D is not even close to the Minny D.  I'd say stay with what you have. Keep Peyton; Marvin Harrison is feeling well, and the rest of that receiving corps is always good.  I'd say maybe try trading CJ and the Tenn D for Welker and the Min D.  I have a feeling Minnesota's D could take it's place at the top of the list of all-time fantasy defenses, blowing everyone else out of the water this year.

The second trade doesn't seem so fair.  Peyton is better than Hasselbeck, CJ and AJ will be about the same with a slight edge to AJ, same story with Colston and Jennings with the edge to Jennings, and if you want Michael Turner, you are banking on a guy who has 1 career start, 1,300+ career yds (rushing and receiving), and 6 career TDs.  The guy has only touched the ball 239 times in his pro career (rushing and receiving), which isn't even a full season of carries. And that is over 4 years in the league!  I'm not saying the guy is bad, but rather, I don't think he can handle the workload of a full season...which is why he is splitting carries with Jerious Norwood.  Thomas Jones' backup is Jesse Chatman and he's got Tony Richardson blowing up linebackers in front of him (same guy who blocked for Adrian Peterson last year).

So, to sum it all up, I would say to stick with what you have.  It's bound to pay off.  If you make these trades, you are taking a lot of risk that might not pay off like you would hope.

  3. The first trade I think you definitely come out on top, although I know that many people are apprehensive about LJ and a lot of people have a "feeling" about Thomas Jones this year - plus you are giving up Peyton and getting back Rivers - it's not as much of a rip-off as you would think.

The second trade also is in your favor.  Hasselback is a consistently decent fantasy QB and the WR's you get should be very good this year, and I think both Chad and Jennings have question marks around them (Chad with the contract issues and Jennings with Aaron Rodgers chucking the ball around).  Also, I like Michael Turner, he's running behind an ok OL and will be the focal point of the offense since Matt Ryan will need time to develop.

  4. I don't like the first one:

Chad johnson is better than welker

Thomas Jones and LJ are probably pretty equal with a slight nod to LJ

Rivers is nowhere close to Peyton

Ultimately your only real upgrade is on D which doesn't win in fantasy.

I don't really like the second either:

Thomas jones will get you more than michael turner

Peyton Manning is light years better than hasselbeck

Andre Johnson and Colston are pretty equal to C. Johnson and Jennings

So I probably wouldn't do either one of them if I were you but I guess they are fair.

  5. If I had to pick one, I would give the edge to trade 2 b/c the difference in the Wr's you get to what you are giving is pretty significant in my opinion.  Hasselbeck will put up numbers comparable to Manning and the difference between TJ and Turner isn't too big.

Trade one you are taking a major hit at QB to get a slight edge at D and RB....not worth it in my opinion.

  6. OK trade one:

    According to my FFL magazine:

you give up the #2 QB (Peyton) for the # 12 QB (rivers)

you give up the # 23 RB (jones) for the #13 RB (LJ)

you give up the # 8 WR (Ocho) for the #13 WR (welker)

    you give up the # 16 D for the #3 D

it all depends on your other players... id say you win this trade... barely... Peyton is great, jones may be a sleeper, and who knows about LJ?

    Trade 2

you give the #2 QB (peyton) for the #8 QB (hasselback

you give the #23 RB (jones) for the # 17 RB (turner)

you give the #8 and #19 WRs for the #4 and 8 wrs

id say that this is less fair, you win big.... hasselback is solid, turner could be a sleeper and you upgrade big at WR, this isnt fair... but if you can get it do it now
