Are the names Noel and Noelle the same (pronounced No-ell, girls name)? I've heard that Noel is a boys name (rhymes with mole). I thought that Noel was just another way to spell Noelle. I'm confused. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :o)

  1. Yes, Noelle is just another way to spell Noel, which is pronounced No-ell.  They are both most commonly used as girls names.  If someone uses it as a boys name and pronounces it Nole, they're just trying to be "creative."  But their son will grow up constantly being called No-ell.

  2. Noel the boys name rhymes with Mole, so you're correct there

Noelle is pronounced No-elle and is a girls name.  So yeah, they are different names with different pronunciations.

Both are awful names in my opinion though

Noelle is french if my memory serves me correctly

Lol, just been reading the other answers, they are definitely two different names, sheesh some people are ignorant on here.

  3. Noel is definitely a boy and Noelle is definitely a girl.

  4. no idea

    sorry

  5. Noel is the male version of Noelle.

I have an uncle called Noel. Like you say it rhymes with mole, whereas Noelle emphasizes the 'elle' at the end.

    Nice names :)

  6. both names r pronounced the same no-elle but "noel" is a boy and "noelle" is a girl

  7. They are the same. The boy spelling is Nole
