This is not about physical pain

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding, Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain. It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self. Therefore, trust the physician and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility.

  1. I had to read it twice to understand it.  It's saying you have to break out of what you think you know and learn more.  I would say you could live by that.

  2. As soon as the understanding broke through the (profound) shell of this passage, I think it is a good philosophy to live by. I don’t know how silent I could be though.
