It's 9am where i live, so that does that mean beijing has just finish with the closing ceremony.

These are the SUMMER olympics. Cold weather sports are in the WINTER olympics which will happen in 2010. Host countries don't choose anything. Ratings and pocketbooks determine what the IOC wants and doesn't want. Also, yes, they probably are just finishing the closing ceremonies.

Its 10:20am where I live and the closing ceremonies just finished being broadcasted on CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Coorporation)

And well, Beijing does not have winter so obviousely they cannot hold winter sports
