  1. Culturally, legally or historically?

Culturally, it depends which neighborhood you're in as I understand it.

    Legally, England owns it.

    Historically, it's one place.

Personally....  well my family that came from there fought in the Irish War of Independence on the side to drive the British out.  For myself though, I always figured it's more important how you live your own life than who you pay your taxes to.  If the government builds the roads, keeps the streets safe and doesn't torture too many people, I don't care who they are.

    What do YOU think?

  2. Re above

If your family fought in the civil war then they were not fighting the british it was the irish fighting the irish.

The war of independence was the battle against the british.

the british have no legal hold over northern ireland as they have declared as far back as the 1970`s that they have no economic or political intrest in being in the region which means that they can had it back as soon as the people decide to unify with the republic of ireland.

The question is the same as asking is south Korea part of north korea, the answer is only when the people decide democratically on both sides.

  4. yes.

  5. THEY ARE PART of the UK they are on the island of Eire

  6. It is part of Ireland in every way. Currently, it is under occupation by a foreign country, but this is temporary and won't last. The next referendum there will return it to the fold.

This has been the wish of the vast majority of prople in Ireland since partition.

  7. Of course it is. Just because England has her stinking claws on Ireland's throat doesn't mean the throat belongs to England.

  8. Interesting to note that someone thinks that Northern Ireland 'belongs' to England. What an eejit. As part of the UK it is ruled by UK law and unfortunately remains outside the Republic of Ireland.

As someone else said - that's not my opinion, that's fact.

  9. Of course it is.  Imagine you had to explain it to a child.  "Ireland is an island.  Britain is a different island.  But Britain says part of Ireland belongs to him".  Any kid would laugh!

  10. Geographically yes.

    Culturally yes.

    Politically-----not just yet!!!

  11. well mandi it's not my OPINION but Northern Ireland IS part of Ireland. Ireland is a big island and Northern Ireland is definitely on it.

If you mean is Northern Ireland part of the Republic of Ireland well the facts - not opinion - are that it isn't. It's part of the UK.

  12. no....part of the UK in my opinion
